Paul Morgan Donald is an accomplished guitarist and musical improvisor. He creates live underscores for Die-Nasty, Edmonton's long-running improvised soap opera, Rapid Fire Theatre and Grindstone Theatre among others. In a career spanning over 25 years, he has worked with such improvising legends as Colin Mochrie, Joe Flaherty, Mike Myers, Dana Andersen and Mark Meer.
Paul has co-created dozens of original musicals including Marg Szkaluba (Pissy's Wife), Reefer Madness! Kink! and The Adventures of Wanda & Jack. As a theatre composer and sound designer, Paul creates contemporary and period music scores for theatres across Canada, including many settings of Shakespeare lyrics.
Smoky expressive vocals and sophisticated guitar combined with sparkling, witty originals in a variety of styles and fresh arrangements of popular songs have earned Paul Morgan Donald critical acclaim and a cult following. His gentle humour and love of the craft of music shine through every performance.
"Paul Morgan Donald's...music is effervescent and hummable enough to cop a dozen Junos."
-Edmonton Journal
The Useless Tools were discovered at the bottom of a rusty toolbox in 2005. They are: Flathead, the bent screwdriver, guitar and vocals; Schizo, the dull scissors, drums and vocals; and Rusty, the rusty precision calipers, bass and vocals. They are produced by eccentric billionaire recluse, Paul Morgan Donald in his mansion/studio in the hills over Edmonton.
